    I have always been told that it was Denmark who issued the first Christmas stamp in 1904

  3. Sorry, but in 1898 Canada issued the Map of the British Empire stamp (Scott Nos. 85 & 86). Both of the stamps have "XMAS 1898" printed along the lower margin.
